PrintAfter a day filled with many many rumors, I feel it is finally safe to say that the truth has been found. Tim Floyd will be leaving USC to coach for the University of Arizona and the announcement should come tomorrow. It's a little late so we'll have much more analysis tomorrow on the big news. Feel free to chime in with your opinion on the news.
Tim will have to lose the Gryffindor tie

Wow.
My big question is, why would he leave LA and the kids he has on campus and coming in? There has been some scuttlebutt about recruiting issues involving hiring the parents of recruits. That’s a practice that has gone on forever, but it does make you wonder if Floyd isn’t getting out of LA one step ahead of the sheriff?
What Floyd brings to the table — assuming a deal gets done — is obvious. You get tough D. You get big time recruits. I’ve never been a huge fan for stylistic reasons, but I’ve never been a hater either. If you put Mark Few one end of a “basketball style” continuum and put Ben Howland/Jamie Dixon on the other end Floyd is barely across the halfway mark close on the Howland/Dixon side, but he’s not quite at the pole.

Floyd exudes mediocrity.

I keep hearing people say he’s a top flight recruiter but I’m not seeing it. I’ll give him Mayo, Taj Gibson, and Marcus Fizer when he was at ISU but who else? Color me unimpressed. I hope I’m wrong but I foresee under achieving teams and future NCAA sanctions. My dick couldn’t be limper.
