I am right - it is coaching

Let's see, in my last post, I said coaching was the main reason for the mediocre AZ football program. OK, let's see what we learned from the UA-ASU game:

1. 4 man rush with NO blitz (and only pressure in OT) - coaching decision;

2. At end of regulation, Bonano squibs out of bounds - player or coaching mistake? If you are a coach, you simply tell the kicker, “Do not squib out of bounds”;

3. Punting and Kicking - as bad as these guys were LAST YEAR, you are telling me that there were no high school seniors that could have been recruited that are better than Zendejas and Crier (thank God he’s a senior!)? COACHING!

Go for 2 in the Second Overtime!

Yeah a blitz mixed in might have been helpful but the way the game was unfolding in the second half Osweiler probably would have connected on a big play!

I would have like to see the Wildcats go for the two point conversion in the second overtime! ASU defense was gassed and it seemed that the offense had the momentum at the time. Would have no complaints from me and it would show that Stoops had confidence in his offense to win it!

Ok, calm down.

Arguments over coaching are fine. Coaching, and more specifically play calling, was the reason the Wildcats lost last night.
But don’t put Mike Leach’s name out there like he’s some prize. The guy is the worst kind of coach, one that cares nothing for his players and is physically abusive with them. There is no way the A.D. would sign off on that hire. There are far better candidates, should the University decide to hire a new coach.

I agree with Mario, this year has all been the coaches faults. Even teh close wins that should never have been close are rooted in the coaches. Stoops said it in an interview a while back, maybe last year that if the kickers were not performing he’d just go for it everytime. WTF Stoops did you forget about that! Again all the O plays were predictable and the pressure from the D was non existent. Fanatic, I agree with you also. As heated as I still am at this season, I still don’t believe the answer is Leach. What an idiot! There are a lot more quality coaches then that douche! I say we try for Mike Belotti. He has stated that a return to coaching is not out of the question. He’s considered the Colorado job, UA has a lot more to offer. I don’t see why we couldn’t win him over.
