Well that was unexpected; Oregon State 63 - Arizona 55 - Post game wrap-up/bang head against wall thread

Well, 27 years of beating Oregon State in McKale is over.  Oregon State stole a game that puts the rest of the season for Arizona in jeopardy.  Sean Miller has clearly made a huge impact on this young Cats team, but they are not quite there yet.

Nic Wise was 1-11 of from the field, and no one else besides Jamelle Horne was there to pick up the slack.  Here's to hoping the finger-pointing is kept to a minimum, and this embarrassing loss is used as a catalyst for a very strong finish to the season.  Without a huge run to end the season, Arizona fans may be filling out NIT brackets in March.

sucked in to the tempo

and never shot their way out of it. If Arizona had anyone who could have hit the outside shot with any kind of regularity, maybe we see a different story. There were plenty of open three’s to be taken, just not that many made.

Was surprised that Lavender didn’t get a chance to make more of an impact but then again, you have to shoot it when you’re open, if you don’t get open….ahhh well, was simply fortunate to not break the TV while watching the game.

I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused....

This was a basketball IQ game

We got exposed (again). These kids just haven’t played together, and we’re not explosive enough to just shoot their way out of confusion. We have to grind. We can’t really force a quicker tempo. OSU kept switching defenses, and you could see the guys trying to calculate the 2nd derivative of something, all while running around. On offense, OSU hit some tough looks but mostly they Princeton’d our guys to death. The more we extended our D the easier their backdoor cuts became. The cherry on top is that Nic played the worst game I can remember since he was a chunky freshman. My hope is that this is as bad a loss as we’ll see this season, because it was bad.

On a related note, how awful is the Pac 10 this year? This loss probably isn’t even among the worst five. This OSU team got mopped by Seattle University. Sometimes—most of the time—the conference thing is waaayyyyy overplayed. But, this Pac 10 basketball season is just tragic.
