Two Words: MIKE LEACH
I've rooted for the U of A my whole life as my entire family went there (not kidding: parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc...). However I grew up in Texas and ended up a Texas Tech guy.
Start talking to everyone you can about hiring Mike Leach.
If you do the research, you'll learn that he was fired on completely baseless charges that stemmed more from egos and money than anything to do with concussions. I can tell you this - Texas Tech fans are still not over the stupid firing, even 2 years later. We had something special, and our idiotic administration threw it away.
And once you're past that unfortunate incident, why wouldn't you hire Leach? He's one of the greatest offensive minds ever, he's hilarious, and he will put butts in seats. Frankly, he's exactly what the U of A needs.
Someone will eventually hire him, and all the schools that could have had him will feel like idiots. Let's help U of A to not be one of those idiots. Bring the pirate to Tucson, and your football dreams will come true.
HIRE LEACH!

No. Just... no.
Leach would be horrible. Regardless of whether you believe he really abused players at Texas Tech, the fact remains that Leach would bring a boatload of bad press. CBS fired him because he was too weird.
There’s no denying that Leach had a moderately impressive record at Texas Tech. Personally I’m not all that impressed with it, but I can see how a lot of people are. He somehow lucked out of a losing season. Granted, if he’d coached there longer, there’s a chance he would have had a losing season eventually.
The bigger problem is that Leach is toxic. Every athletic department in the country knows that, which is why no one has hired him yet. He had a great thing going at Texas Tech, but he blew it. I’ll be surprised if he ever coaches at the collegiate level again. He’s too much of a bizarre personality (“Pirates!”) and any program that took him on would be taking a major risk…in a bad way. That’s not what Arizona needs.
Oh come on
All college football fans know that depending on the budget/expectations of a program needing a new coach, at least one post has to be made advocating either Urban Meyer or Mike Leach.
It’s almost a law :)
This is true.
You are right, good sir. I just thought someone was making a serious pitch for Mike Leach. lol Lesson learned. Thank you.

I'd be down with Leach if options 1-3 fall through
I don’t think he’s a big enough name, honestly. I DO think he’s a good coach, but not someone who will be a lock to make Arizona elite (or even good. I mean, Stoops knows his Xs and Os and couldn’t get the Wildcats to perform). But if we’re left between him and some coordinator from a school that’s not in the top 15 in the nation, I’d take him.
Plus, from a media standpoint, it would be a hell of a lot of fun.
