Rodriguez wants to schedule Michigan
As a Michigan alumnus, Rich Rodriguez fan, and new Arizona football fan, I thought you all might be interested in this article: http://www.detnews.com/article/20111202/SPORTS0201/112020417/1131/SPORTS0105/Rich-Rodriguez-wants-to-play-Michigan
Not sure what people there in Arizona think, but Michigan fans seem to be divided. Its definitely an interesting prospect for Rodriguez - I'm not sure whats in his mind but it would be a great chance for redemption if he could go to the Big House and beat the Wolverines (I highly doubt Michigan would schedule a home-and-home with Arizona). Then again, it seems like he could be setting himself up for insult to injury. Either way, it just doesn't seem like a great idea for either school. Would Arizona want to use one of its non-conference games to travel to the Big House?

I think it's kind of foolish, and petty.
It’s one thing for Michigan and Arizona to meet naturally in the Rose Bowl, but for Rodriguez to actively seek out or ask for a game against Michigan just creates bad blood. There are so many Michigan fans out there who support Rodriguez and are on his “side,” that for him to want a game against Michigan seems kind of douche-baggish.
At Michigan, Rodriguez never asked for a game against West Virginia, with whom he tried to heal old wounds.
No worries
RR wont need to schedule Michigan. The deal that the Pac-12 made with the BigTen will schedule that game for him.
Agreed.
I agree. Although, if I were him, I’d be super-bitter. That said, he should probably keep that bitterness inside and not discuss anything Michigan with the press anymore.
Michigan Fans Suck
No where in the linked article does it say that Rich Rod discussed anything Michigan with the press. It was the AD Greg Byrne who was quoted in the article.
I highly doubt Michigan would schedule a home and home with Arizona either. Seems like almost every time the Wolverines travel west they lose. As far as a one off game in the Big House – if App State can win there then so can UA.
I think it’s great that Rodriquez wants to schedule Michigan, it lets me know that he is confident in his ability to compete here at Arizona. I also think it is awesome that the AD supported him and said he would try to make the game happen. I’m not sure Rich Rod got that kind of support from the Athletic Department at any time during this three years at Michigan.

I finally finished laughing . . .
Now that I’m done laughing, I can address your points: First, it’s true that anyone can beat anyone. It’s laughable that you bring up a game that happened over 4 years ago. I think it’s clear that Arizona hasn’t had a team as good as that ASU team in decades. Second, I agree – its great that UA’s AD supported Rodriguez. I’m sure hiring Rodriguez will end up being the highlight of that guy’s life. Finally, it’s clear that Michigan fans are some of the greatest fans in the country. I’d like to see UA fill a 111,000 seat stadium once, let alone year after year.
Maybe think again before trying to alienate the Michigan fans that are now reading this blog. We’re likely to double the readership.
