What a great game yesterday. There were plenty of negatives and positives to review. The few things that really stuck out in my mind start with the gutty play that this team has shown so far this season. Multiple times in the game yesterday we could have given up while down ten points, however each time we worked our way back into the game. Nick Johnson is an extremely important part of this team, and there is simply no denying that. Our big guys really didn't show up yesterday. They got a lesson from Florida's bigs yesterday. The bright side is anytime you get a lesson, and still manage to win, that's a plus. Lets get right to the individual grades.
Brandon Ashley: D Brandon really didn't do anything yesterday. I should probably give him an F however, I am in a generous mood today. Having a stat line of 0 points 1 steal 1 assist 3 rebounds in 22 minutes is still pretty pathetic. If we truly want to go anywhere in the tournament we will need better play out of our big men.
Solomon Hill: A Everytime we needed him, it felt like he was there. Hill finished with a game high 18 points on 5-9 shooting, and an impressive 6-6 from the line.
Kaleb Tarczewski: C- Just like the rest of our big men, he got taken to school in this game. Unlike Ashley though, Tarc managed to have a few positives in the game. Finishing 2-4 for 4 points before fouling out of the game early.
Mark Lyons: A In all honesty Lyons probably deserves a B grade for getting 14 points on 5-8 shooting, but having 3 turnovers which put us in some bad situations. However, anytime you hit a game winner against a top 10 team, you automatically get an A from me.
Nick Johnson: A Nick is really starting to make a name for himself. Once again he fills up the entire stat sheet. Nick finished with 15 points 4 steals 3 assists and 3 rebounds. If it wasn't for his energy on defense at the end of the game we simply don't get those turnovers we needed. For a fun stat, in his last 6 games Nick has 22 steals. Thats an average of 3.6 steals per game.
Kevin Parrom: B+ his shooting number may not be great at 2-8, but his 3 assists and 4 rebounds were important. Plus having him in the middle of the zone made a huge difference for the cats. Parrom really was one of the unsung heros of this game.
Jordin Mayes: C Mayes didn't do much to be remembered for in this game. However, he didn't cost us anything either. Overall just an average performance.
Grant Jerrett: C- Probably our best of the three bigs in this game. He made a few very timely shots, but overall was abused like the other ones.
