Arizona vs. Cal: An East Bay three keys for the Wildcats against the Bears

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

How Arizona leaves Berkeley bowl-eligible Saturday

At 5-2, the Arizona Wildcats are on the cusp of becoming bowl-eligible. No small feat for a team full of inexperienced players and true freshmen making huge impacts.

So how do the Cats take down the Cal Bears? Here's our three-keys for this week's match up in the East Bay.

1. Bear Raiders

The most dangerous part of Cal's offense has been their passing game. The return of Tra'Mayne Bondurant and a healthier Jared Tevis will be a crucial part of the defense this week in forcing freshman Jared Goff into some mental mistakes. Jonathan McKnight will have to have a better game than he did against Colorado as well as Cal has a couple receivers in Chris Harper and Bryce Treggs that can give the corners issues.

2. Picking the Ponies

Golden Gate Fields is a nice place to visit when in the Berkeley area, and Arizona brings in a couple thoroughbreds in the backfield. A balanced attack of Ka'Deem Carey and B.J. Denker will definitely give this Cal defense issues, as they have shown throughout the year. As long as the decision making by Denker is balanced, I expect big things from this offense this week.

3. Front-line Warriors

The offensive line has been fairly consistent in recent weeks, and that'll be needed again this week. I'm thinking Arizona looks for a couple big pass plays early, and some good pass protection up front will open up these chances. After a couple deep passes, Ka'Deem can take it home from there.
