After a huge sweep over their in-state rivals, Oregon State has positioned themselves in the top three in the polls, placing the Beavers right in the conversation for the eight National Seeds come tourney time.
Those Oregon Ducks that were swept remain in the rankings before Arizona makes the trip to Eugene. And of course Washington is still up there.
Here's a look at how the Pac-12 stacks up to the rest of the nation in this week's baseball rankings:
|Baseball America||Perfect Game||USA Today||NCBWA||Collegiate Baseball||RPI|
|Oregon State Beavers||2 (5)||3 (5)||3 (4)||2 (4)||2 (4)||10|
|Washington Huskies||7 (7)||7 (7)||13 (9)||13 (11)||7 (5)||25|
|Oregon Ducks||NR (19)||21 (14)||T14 (7)||10 (7)||15 (7)||24|
ASU is 26th in the Collegiate Baseball poll and USC is 24th. The Sun Devils are still receiving votes in both the USA Today and NCBWA polls after dropping Sunday's game to Arizona. USC and UCLA are receiving votes in the NCBWA poll.
Oregon dropping out of the Baseball America rankings is noteworthy considering one of BA's main guys, Aaron Fitt, was in Corvallis for that series. So obviously he didn't like what he saw from the Ducks, who managed to only get one hit on Sunday against OSU starter Jace Fry.
Virginia is the consensus No. 1 team this week after a 4-1 week which included a series victory over another top-six team in Florida State. The hottest team in the country is probably the Miami Hurricanes. They've won 12 straight road games (what?) and 19 of their last 20 overall to give them a one game lead over No. 1 Virginia in the ACC Coastal Division.
The past Arizona opponents that appear on the rankings include UC Santa Barbara and Mississippi State, both of which were in Tucson that one glorious weekend in early March. Seton Hall is just out of a couple of the polls, and Kent State is currently leading the MAC East division.
Here's a complete look at the Pac-12 in the RPI:
|Arizona State Sun Devils||35|
|California Golden Bears||79|
|Washington State Cougars||113|
That's right, Arizona has the worst RPI in the Pac-12! They also have the worst RPI in the state. Grand Canyon sits at No. 154 right now.
