Arizona basketball recruiting: 2013 forward Aaron Gordon narrows list

Top-10 forward has narrowed his list and the Arizona Wildcats are still on it.

Essentially at the buzzer of Arizona's 72-51 victory against the UTEP Miners late Thursday, ESPN recruiting analyst Dave Telep broke unsurprising news. Top-10 2013 recruit Aaron Gordon has narrowed his list to three teams, and the Arizona Wildcats remain on it.

Gordon dropped the Oregon Ducks, California Golden Bears and Kansas Jayhawks from his list.

This isn't surprising considering Arizona and Washington were long considered to be the frontrunners. Kentucky has come into the game late, there's no telling what that curveball could throw into the 6-foot-7, 210 pound forward's decision.

Telep added that there is no timetable for a final decision, but on the first day of the early signing period, it'd be good for Arizona fans to know that the forward dubbed the mini-Blake Griffin still has the Wildcats on his mind. Just this week, Gordon tweeted that it'd be a tough decision, but he's apparently made some headway in cutting down his options.

One obvious and unfortunate downside for the Wildcats would be the already-thick frontcourt. At this point, it's hard to see any of Grant Jerrettt, Kaleb Tarczewski, Brandon Ashley or Angelo Chol leaving for the NBA. Though Ashley could theoretically slide to small forward, it's still a loaded frontcourt.

Meanwhile, Washington has reason to reload up front -- yes, we're talking about a loss to Albany on Wednesday. As for the Wildcats of Kentucky, you know the story. There's room for Gordon there if Nerlens Noel, as expected, goes to the NBA, and John Calipari doesn't quite have the same depth up front now, let alone for next season.
