Arizona basketball recruiting: Parker Jackson-Cartwright commits to Wildcats

Jeff Gross

The Arizona Wildcats received a commitment from 2014 point guard Parker Jackson Cartwright on Sunday.

The Arizona Wildcats received their second commitment from the 2014 class in Parker Jackson-Cartwright, a speedy but highly sought after point guard,ESPN's Dave Telep reported. The 5-foot-7, 140 pound guard from Loyola High School in Los Angeles chose the Wildcats and Sean Miller's program over ASU, North Carolina State and UCLA. USC and Washington were also on his list.

Jackson-Cartwright is ranked No. 30 in ESPN's list of recruits for the 2014 class and is a four-star player.

Jackson-Cartwright's biggest knock is obviously his size, but ESPN's recruiting profile calls him the best Los Angeles area prospect at the point guard slot since Baron Davis. He's a true point guard in every sense and has a very mature feel for the game.

As Arizona fans have seen often this season, game management is something that will be of highest priority moving forward. Jackson-Cartwright's potential inabilities because of his size have led to a highly-skilled passing game.

In our eyes, Jackson-Cartwright will be a smaller, speedier and more dynamic version of former Wildcat Nic Wise, whose own timing at Arizona caused his those outside of Tucson to overlook his own savvy.

Because he'll arrive in two years, Jackson-Cartwright will likely be behind T.J. McConnell during his freshman year, giving him time to build on his small frame for a full season all while having little pressure on him to produce in a big way.
