Arizona basketball recruiting: UA in mix for 2015 PF Carlton Bragg, Sean Miller watches Craig Victor

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

Sean Miller made a trip to the Phoenix area to watch 2014 commit Craig Victor, and the Wildcats are in the hunt for 2015 forward Carlton Bragg.

Early in December, the Arizona Wildcats offered power forward Carlton Bragg, who is listed by ESPN as the No. 10 overall recruit in the 2015 recruiting class. Saturday, Bragg told ZagsBlogs's Kurt J. Stubbs II that the Wildcats are emerging as major players in his recruitment.

The VASJ junior says he continues to hear from every school in the country, in his words, but Arizona, which we reported last month offered him, seems to be the new school heavily in the mix.

"Arizona is really trying to get to know me more as a person than a player," Bragg mentioned.

Kentucky is, as usual, in the mix but told Bragg they need to clear up the 2014 class to know what need they'll have for him. Illinois and Ohio State are also chasing the athletic 6-foot-9 forward, who is from Cleveland.

Bragg struggled in a Friday game against the Bishop Gorman duo of center Stephen Zimmerman and Chase Jeter, both of whom have also been offered by Arizona. Zimmerman is the second-ranked player in the 2015 class while Jeter is a 6-foot-10, 37th-ranked player in the same class.

Already it's clear the Wildcats are working hard to keep their frontline loaded. Bragg would immediately fill in two years down the road, when Kaleb Tarczewski and Brandon Ashley exhaust their eligibility. That duo could use at least another year of seasoning before considering the NBA -- that unless they really bump up their stock in a postseason run -- so a pairing of Bragg and 2014 commit Victor Craig would be a fine duo for Sean Miller.

And speaking of Victor...

Miller watches Victor

Right after the Wildcats dropped the Washington Huskies 71-62 on Saturday, Sean Miller went to Scottsdale, where he watched 2014 power forward commitment Craig Victor.

The 29th-ranked prospect by ESPN in 2014 and his Findlay Prep squad were in the Phoenix area to face Pinnacle and Corona Del Sol. Here's a story on Victor's visit to the Valley from Sports360AZ.com.
