Arizona basketball recruiting: Stanley Johnson reps Arizona at 2014 McDonald's All-American game

USA TODAY Sports

Arizona commit Stanley Johnson will usher in the 2014 Arizona basketball recruiting class.

Stanley Johnson, the class of the Arizona Wildcats' 2014 recruiting class, has been busy. Just this past weekend, he became the first player in California state high school history to win four upper-division state titles, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Not bad.

The culmination of a dominant high school career comes on Wednesday when he takes the court in the 2014 McDonald's All-American game in Chicago.

The 5-star recruit is Sean Miller's answer to Aaron Gordon's likely exit to the NBA. He's also a winner, a product of Mater Dei High School, which has one of the richest traditions in high school hoop. From Reggie Geary to Miles Simon, the Wildcats have kept tabs on the perennial power.

But none have come along with such hype.

Johnson, the only Arizona commit in the McDonald's game, is a physical and gifted small forward. At 6'6, 225 pounds, he's already listed as being bigger than Gordon, and he's likewise a relentless defender, talented passer and slashing scorer.

ESPN's scouting analysis of Johnson uses the phrase "bully-ball" to describe Johnson's game, and against the country's best players, he'll get to showcase that style.

Another commit?

Only one player on the East and West rosters has yet to pick a college destination, but Arizona is on his list. Seven-foot, 240 pound center Myles Turner has his list only down to nine schools, and while the Wildcats don't seem to be the favorites by any means, you never know what can happen.

ESPN's No. 2-ranked player in the 2014 will play on the East squad, but he'll square off with fellow big man Jahlil Okafor, the top-ranked player in the class. According to Zagsblog.com, Turner's father will try to get him to visit Arizona, but said it could be hard to fit into a busy schedule of All-Star games. Word is that Turner will be listening to pitches from committed players during the next few weeks.

Both Turner and Johnson will play in the Nike Hoop Summit on a USA squad that will play a World Select team on April 12.
