According to the Arizona Daily Star's Daniel Berk, Rich Rodriguez and the Arizona football program have parted way with backup quarterback Javelle Allen, defensive lineman Justin Washington and offensive lineman Eric Bender-Ramsay.
Allen was dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules, but it seems Rodriguez used a less-harsh way to describe the team parting with Washington and Bender-Ramsay.
Re: Bender-Ramsay and Washington. Both have already graduated. Rodriguez said "it was time for them to move on and time for us to move on."— Daniel Berk (@DSBerk) December 28, 2013
Allen's dismissal immediately means an opportunity will open up for either Jesse Scroggins or Nick Isham, who have fought for the third quarterback spot behind Allen and starter B.J. Denker.
It also means you can take one name out of the starting quarterback spot next season. Now that list includes Scroggins, Isham, redshirting freshman Anu Solomon, Texas Longhorns transfer Connor Brewer, JC transfer Jerrard Randall and true freshmanBrandon Dawkins.
The dismissal of Washington is a sad ending for a player who earned Freshman All-American nods way back when. Though Washington played in every game this season as a reserve, he never got back to his dominating ways -- though there was a bit more around him as a freshman to draw the opponents' attention away from himself. He had 13 total tackles and 3.5 for loss this season.
