2010 Recruiting Spotlight: Mickey Baucus
VITALS:
Name: Mickey Baucus
Position: Offensive Line
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 275
Speed: Unknown
High School: Mundellin, Illinios (Mount Carmel High School)
Rivals: Three out of Five
Recruited By: Coach Bill Bedenbaugh
STRENGTHS:
Mickey Baucus is an enormous man. His large frame leaves him open to put on serious weight in the college ranks and eat his way to a powerful offensive lineman. Scouts, Inc. has this to say about Baucus:
Baucus has great size and arm length for the offensive tackle position. Combined with good flexibility for a big man, we feel he has the tools and athletic ability to start his career at left tackle. For a person of his size, his ability to bend at the waist and knees is and attribute. As a line of scrimmage blocker the ability to come out of his stance with a good first step and a flat back is a positive. Can dominate at the line of scrimmage and excels when double team blocking. However, we like his ability to gain position with a good 1st step which allows him to cutoff inside defenders and trap and pull. His foot quickness and the ability to bend at the knees should allow him to handle wide up field rushers.
USC Athletes Are Being Hunted
After the NCAA put down serious sanctions agains USC for violating a number of rules mainly surrounding O.J. Mayo and Reggie Bush, the rest of the nation is attempting to capitalize on USC's ill fated fortune. It was reported earlier that five schools have contacted freshman phenom, Dillon Baxter, and asked him if he wanted to transfer to their schools. Included in this list are Alabama, Florida, Washington, Oregon and Fresno State. The NCAA has lifted the transfer restrictions for upperclassmen so they would not have to sit out a year. Unfortunately, sophomores and freshmen would still have to abide by the transfer restrictions.
I would be surprised if this type of activity was not occurring for EVERY USC athlete. They may not be getting contact from coaches or alumni regarding the sanctions but peer pressure is a bitch. Once the hammer dropped my guess is that every teammate that had a friend in their district or other teammate commit to USC has contacted them and tried to talk them into transferring.
2010 Recruiting Spotlight: Cameron Allerheiligen
And, we're back! The baseball team has just made the Fort Worth Regionals, the basketball recruiting is only 3 deep at this point, and the summer is upon us. Over the next few months, we will be breaking down all of the 2010 football recruits here at Azdesertswarm. The Cats put together another solid recruiting class by grabbing four 4 Star recruits, and sixteen 3 Star recruits. Let's take a dive into the analysis with Cameron Allerheiligen.
VITALS:
Name: Cameron Allerheiligen
Position: Quarterback
Height: 6'3"
Weight:200
Speed: Unknown
High School: Keller High School, Keller, Texas
Rivals: Two out of Five
Recruited By: Coach Dave Nichol
STRENGTHS:
Cameron was a late addition to the Wildcats as Matt Brown decommitted from the Cats the week before signing day due to the departure of offensive coordinator Sonny Dykes to Louisiana Tech. Matt Brown eventually committed to TCU. Allerheiligen was a stud at his high school in Keller, Texas (DFW). He threw 2,635 yards his senior year with 24 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. He was voted Dave Campbell's Texas High School Top 20 quarterback. Allerheiligen is a rough work in progress who the Cats will have to mold over the years. Cameron's strengths lie in the fact that he has run the spread offense for two years in the competitive metroplex region of North Texas and was very successful.

Potential Recruit Could Send 2010 Class Over Edge: Corey Cooper
Arizona continues to enjoy the fruits of a winning football program by racking up 19 recruits and four 4 star recruits already. That is one more than we had last season and we're still in the hunt for 4 star recruit Corey Cooper from Maywood, Illinois. Cooper is a safety who possesses unbelievable size and physical attributes that look like a linebacker. He is set to announce his decision at his high school, Proviso East High School at 9:00 on Wednesday.
(You know you want to play with Adam Hall. You know it. Warm weather too)
That Didn't Take Long: Jordin Mayes Commits to Arizona
One day after witnessing Arizona take down Cal 76-72, Los Angeles point guard Jordin Mayes commits to Arizona. We recapped the great week in terms of Arizona recruiting by taking a look at Kadeem Jack and Jordin Mayes both being in Tucson during the Stanford and California games. Those are some pretty good games to be at if you're a senior in high school. Kadeem Jack had some good things to say about the Cats and their fans after his visit. Mayes probably enjoyed watching Nic Wise light up Cal for 30 points from the PG spot.
I wonder how many dreams Mayes had on Sunday night of playing at McKale? What do you think? I think I had a dream of playing at McKale last night and I'm not even a recruit!
A great pick-up for the Cats. Miller is putting together a nice group to compliment his 2009 class. Congrats to him and all of the coaches working on these young guys.
Kadeem Jack and Other Recruiting News
The Wildcats were lucky enough to enjoy a visit from standout power forward Kadeem Jack last week. Jack visited the campus and from the vibe I'm getting he really enjoyed his visit. Jack is listed at 6'8" and is It didn't hurt that Jack was in attendance when the Cats took down Stanford 76-68 on Thursday. There is no better way for young high schoolers to get excited about going to college than to attend a game where your recruiting team wins and you get to see the students going wild. It's also nice that we have students who are involved in the recruiting and know who these guys are when they visit. Jack had this to say about his visit:
"I know it was a great experience. We got to see the campus, which is nice. The fans were amazing. Some of them came up to me and said hello. They were great. The team was great. Everything was great."
Jack would be a nice compliment to Derrick Williams down low and he knows it. Jack speaking of playing with Williams:
"Oh man, if I go there we would be quite a combination," Jack said. "I could tell they needed somebody down low. I think I can come in and make an impact."
