Arizona Quick Hits 3-11-09

Plenty going around in the U of A  sports world.  Let's check it out:

Pat Forde thinks that Arizona is still on the bubble and can't feel comfortable unless they get another win.  I am still a little nervous, but I think that our non-conference wins over Gonzaga and Kansas should count for enough to get us over the hump.  This one is going to be big!

Bad news for Willie Tuitama. He was charged with extreme DUI in Tucson on Saturday night.  Draft prospects are such a commodity these days that they look not only at the performance on the field, but off of it as well. This is certainly not going to help him any.

Arizona tackle Adam Grant is healthy and should solidify our offensive line this year.  He had to sit out last year for 1/2 of the season with a hand injury. With the departure of Eben Britton, we are going to need him to step up.

The departure of Mike Thomas, the Pac-10 all time receiver, is going to be a tough replacement for the Cats.  They are looking for a few guys to replace Thomas: Bug Wright, David Douglas, Terrell Turner, Delashaun Dean, Rob Gronkowski will attempt to be the guy this year.

Arizona has had four spring practices so far and the coverage through the Arizona Athletics site is  horrendous.  I can't tell what's going on and there is no coverage about the quarterback competition, except that there is one. The only thing that is out there is the Spring Guide.

Tom Dienhart of Sports Illustrated rates the Pac-10 Coaches in football. Mike Stoops is listed as the number 8 coach out of the Pac-10. I know that he is just getting started in terms of coaching, but the guy had a great year last year with his own crop of recruits. I think that at least top 6 would be adequate. We'll show'em this year.
