The Cats will travel to Palo Alto this weekend to take on the Cardinal from Stanford. The game will be televised on CBS College Sports beginning at 5:00 p.m. MST. The Wildcats (17-19, 3-12) will face a good Stanford team who is (17-16, 7-8). Preston Guilmet will get the nod on Friday, facing Jordan Pries from Stanford. The Cats were swept by Washington State last week and then played one game against Gonzaga and won 8-7.
The Cats remaining schedule includes Arizona State at home, Cal, Cal State Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, Washington, and Oregon. This season has been a big disappoint for the Cats as they have struggled to find any sort of rhythm behind any pitcher other than Preston Guilmet. Dillon Baird and Brad Glenn have been the offensive MVP's so far with Dwight Childs and Jett Bandy rounding out our top production on offense.
Kyle Simon should get the go on Saturday while Daniel Workman will get his second start of the season. Simon's ERA for the year is 6.07 and Workman's is 2.08. It appears Dillon Roach and Matt Veltmann have been shelved for the time being as they have been unable to get it done and rarely pitch more than 3 innings in a game. I think coach is on the right track in starting Workman on Sunday. His lineups have also been settling down to some sense of normalcy with Bandy, Baird, Glenn, Childs holding down the middle while Bryce Ortega has been a solid leadoff man all year.
Good luck Cats. Please no errors!
