Coaching Rumors & Changes: Arizona Wildcats Make A Move

The Arizona Wildcats appear to have found their new offensive coordinator. The Arizona Daily Star is reporting that head coach Mike Stoops has hired former BYU Cougars O.C. Robert Anae. This is a solid hire. Anae has a background in the Mike Leach style of offense that Arizona runs, and is considered one of the top offensive coordinators in the nation. The arrival of Anae should lead to a dramatic improvement in the overall performance of the Arizona offense.

Most importantly, with his excellent game planning and play calling skills, it would be shocking if he were not named the sole offensive coordinator. This is great news for Wildcat fans. Anae's offenses have ranked in the top 25 in 5 of the last 6 seasons, and has had his offenses rank in the top 10 in passing 3 out of the last six seasons.

I am very excited about this hire, but I wonder whether co-offensive coordinator and runningbacks coach Seth Littrell will accept a demotion. Will he take his talents elsewhere? If he does, that is another position coach that coach Stoops will need to replace. At the rate he is going, however, I'd bet on any new hire being an improvement over Littrell.

Lots more to come on hirings and firings in the next couple of weeks, I'm sure.

So what do you think? If you want to see another coach replaced, tell me who and why in the comments.
