The Arizona Wildcats' Sean Miller just keeps on trucking, and this time, it appears that he's ripped out Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Self's intestines by adding 2012 center Kaleb Tarczewski to his recruiting class.
Jeff Goodman is just one of many to confirm that Tarczewski has chosen the Wildcats over the Jayhawks. It was just a week ago that the 7-footer from St. Marks (Mass.) visited Arizona's Red-Blue Game at McKale Center. A week before that, Tarczewski had visited the Jayhawks during their midnight madness event.
Apparently, the North Carolina Tarheels and Kentucky Wildcats were also in the mix, but it was fairly clear it came down to KU and Arizona.
Here's what Tarczewski told Goodman.
"It was a very long journey," said Tarczewski, a Claremont, New Hampshire native who has spent the past three years at St. Mark's (Mass.). "An unbelievable process. I'm so lucky to be in this position and never would have imagined having these options when I first came to St. Mark's."
Turns out, holding the Red-Blue scrimmage a week after most schools is a good idea. Tarczewski got to visit with current commits Gabe York, Grant Jerrett and Brandon Ashley. That was already a stacked class -- now the Wildcats have an overloaded frontcourt that will compliment the 2011 class's talented backcourt.
York tweeted from his @gabeyork1 handle with apparent glee (if such can be submitted via Twitter) Monday shortly after noon.
Kaleb jus committed to u of a lesss goo best recruiting class hands down
And as we saw in a 69-68 loss to Seattle Pacific last Thursday, the Wildcats are in dire need of that help
Here's Goodman's analysis of Tarczewski's game:
He has terrific size, runs the floor extremely well for someone his size and has a work ethic and attitude to match. He still has his deficiencies, but the best aspect about Tarczewski is that he understands it - and is willing to put in the work.
ESPN recruiting analyst Dave Telep enjoys the commitment, too.
Telep has become a big fan of Miller, and he let it be known with a few tweets after the Tarczewski news broke. Apparently, Miller killing it also hurts Kansas a lot.
Last year Arizona loaded up its backcourt. This time around, they secured an embarrassment of frontcourt talent. Impressive stuff.
Tarczewski to Arizona is a tough pill to swallow for KU. Program went all in to get him. Miller's bi-coastal recruiting class is awesome
