Arizona Wildcats to face UConn Huskies on aircraft carrier, CBS reports

Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com reported Thursday afternoon that sources said the Arizona Wildcats and UConn Huskies will play basketball on an aircraft carrier in November of 2012.

Rumors had the Wildcats on a shortlist to play the Huskies. Arizona, Kansas, Texas, Florida and Illinois were the finalists to be UConn's opponent as of a few weeks ago, reported the Associated Press.

The first Carrier Classic game pits the North Carolina Tar Heels against the Michigan State Spartans on Nov. 11 of this year. That Veteran's Day game will take place on the USS Carl Vinson off the coast of San Diego.

Goodman reports the tentative date will be Nov. 9 of 2012 for the Wildcats to replay the team that knocked them out of the Elite Eight in 2011's NCAA Tournament. He also writes that there's enough space on the ship for the court to have bandstands that could hold as many as 7,000 audience members, most of whom will be enlisted military personnel.
