Another win for the Cats always feels good. This one had a lot more ups than the previous two games. We came out hot, and kept the lead throughout. At times we let them come a little too close, but in the end we flexed our muscles and put them away. I will be honest though it was tough to watch this game and Monday Night football at the same time, however thank goodness for being able to watch the Pac-12 network on the internet.
Now time for some grades
Team Grade: B The hot start and strong finish were very good signs. However, we have to be careful not to have too many dry spells throughout the game.
B Ashley: A Ashley had a great start, and was strong throughout. They kept comparing him to Derrick Williams, but I'm not ready to go there yet. I personally dislike comparing someone to a player who just recently left, instead I prefer to compare players to those who are much older so that we don't get too picky on what we expect. He had 20 points and 10 rebounds for a very solid double double. The most impressive stats though were his 6-6 shooting from the field and 8-9 free throws.
Solomon Hill: C+ We didn't really need Hill in this game to be special, and he really wasn't. He packed the stats with 15 points 4 assists and 6 boards, however I expect him to shoot better than 2-8 from the floor and 0-5 from behind the arc.
Kaleb Tarczewski: B+ Tarc's stats weren't amazing, but he did fill up a lot of areas. 7 points 4 blocks, 2 steals, and 5 rebounds. His biggest impact though came without stats. On the offensive end they were so worried about Tarc down low they allowed plenty of driving lanes.
Mark Lyons: C- He wasn't horrible, but he didn't really do anything this game either. Only 4 points on 1-2 shooting, and only 3 assists. As a PG if you only have 4 points you better have around 10 assists.
Nick Johnson: B Nick decided to be aggressive and stocked up some okay stats. He had 12 points, 3 steals, 5 assists, and 1 rebound. That is the sort of stat line I would love from nick all year. However, he did get knocked a little bit for only going 5-13 from the field. He needs to be a bit more efficient.
Gabe York: B Honestly I think I was watching the 49ers kill the Bears everytime York touched the ball because I barely remember him out there, yet it says he played 12 minutes. He did have 5 points on 2-3 shooting though, so I'll give him a decent grade for that.
Kevin Parrom: A 5-5 from the 3pt arc for 15 points. Enough said.
Jordin Mayes: B- Much better game from Jordin. He finally looked a bit more comfortable and finished with 6 points 1 assists and 1 rebound in 15 mins. He shot 3-4 which always makes me happy, but I would like to see him get a few more assists.
Angelo Chol: C didn't seem to make much of a difference in the game. (another MNF casualty)
Grant Jerrett: C- I am starting to expect a lot more our of Jerrett, but only shooting 2-7 from the field for 5 points just wont cut it for someone of his skill level. On the bright side he was 1-1 from behind the arc.
Alright everyone, I can't wait till the next game. Feel free to tell me how far off I am on my grades :)
