SB Nation's final preseason BlogPoll was released Tuesday morning, and I didn't think we'd find anything about the Arizona Wildcats. I suppose I was wrong.
A quick glance at the "others receiving votes" showed that the Wildcats did garner a single vote. So I decided to investigate who was kind enough to give Rich Rodriguez so much credit -- or to find who was a little confused about the Wildcats' projected season.
Turns out, the reasoning has less to do with RichRod and more to do with graduation rates. The voters at Black Shoe Diaries, our equivalent Penn State blog, say football before academics, and for Arizona that holds true with a 48 percent graduation rate. Perhaps they are a little salty about NCAA procedure over there, but whatever the reasoning for going this route while voting, it does drop some heavy, not-so-good knowledge on us over here.
That rate is only better than Florida International and San Jose State, though realize the NCAA ratings are updated only through 2011.
So the Wildcats got a No. 3 vote. Not bad, but not for the right reasons.
Here's a look at the conglomerate poll.
