Arizona vs. Utah: Visiting Salt Lake City with Wildcats' Three Keys

Three keys for Arizona to do what Stanford couldn't do...beat Utah

This is Arizona's only home game for a nearly two month span. So it would be nice to get a W.

Here's the Salt Lake City version of three keys for the Wildcats.

1. Jazzing up the running game

The Utah Utes are the biggest team the Arizona Wildcats have faced up to this point in 2013. Ka'Deem Carey isn't going to be able to do this on his own. Having B.J. Denker run around is not the answer here. The running game is going to need a change of pace with Daniel Jenkins, and possibly even Jared Baker. Utah's D-line will be able to snuff out a Ka'Deem-heavy attack in no time.

2. Olympic Parks

William Parks to be precise. With Jared Tevis out due to a knee injury, William Parks is going to have to step up in a big way for the Arizona secondary. Safety isn't exactly the deepest position on the defense to begin with, so a significant injury like Tevis will be felt. Just how much Utah exploits it will be dependent on if Parks shows up to play.

3. Smith and Co.

No, not Joseph Smith the Utah DB. Jake Smith. The special teams units have been less than stellar to say the least. Points can not be given away this time around like they were at USC. One missed FG, one tipped punt, another long return allowed were all crucial plays against the Trojans. Utah's special teams are really good, including maybe having one of the best kickers in the country in Andy Phillips. Phillips is 27-for-27 on PATs, and 11-for-11 on FGAs. How great would that be to have a guy who's actually somewhat reliable?

With a physical team coming in, field position will be vital to the Wildcats' survival. Thus, shanked and blocked punts must not come off the foot of Drew Riggleman.
