The Arizona hockey team should still be in a good place with their confidence even after struggling against a D2 opponent and losing to No. 6 Delaware.
The No. 11 Wildcats opened the home portion of their schedule this Friday against the NAU Icejacks. Arizona got out to a 2-0 lead, but NAU came back to tie the game early in the third period. But the Cats picked up a goal of their own in the third. Steven Sisler kept the Icejacks from scoring again to give UA a 3-2 win.
No. 6 Delaware came to Tucson Saturday night after losing two games at No. 1 Arizona State, including an overtime loss on Friday. The Blue Hens took an early 3-0 lead, but the Wildcats battled back and actually took a 4-3 lead. Unfortunately, Delaware answered back with four more goals of their own to take the contest by a score of 7-4.
"I was pleased with the effort, to battle all the way back from three down to pull ahead was good to see," said head coach Sean Hogan.
Steven Sisler started both games in net. Arizona goals on the weekend were scored by: Robbie Wilkinson (3), Shane Gleason (2), Alex O'Dea, and Jason Effertz.
Arizona remains at home this week as WCHL foes Colorado and Colorado State come to Tucson. The Cats play CU Thursday night and then play CSU Friday and Saturday. All games start at 7:30 PM at the TCC.
