One of Arizona biggest commitments of the 2013 class, running back Pierre Cormier, faxed in his National Letter of Intent around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

POSITION: Running Back

HIGH SCHOOL: Madison

HEIGHT: 5-foot-10

WEIGHT: 180 pounds

STAR RATING: Three

Pierre Cormier heads a five-recruit group Rich Rodriguez inked out of San Diego. The area's growing importance on the recruiting path is evident in programs around the Pacific 12 Conference, and the nation. With Cormier and teammate Lee Walker, Arizona scored a duo from the city's best team.

Cormier led Madison to a 14-1 final record and California Interscholastic Federation Div. III championship, rushing for 2233 yard and 29 touchdowns.

For his efforts, Cormier was named an All-State selection.

Cormier should compete for immediate playing time as a change-of-pace back behind starter Ka'Deem Carey.

His transition to Rodriguez's offense should be seamless. Madison was among California's most prolific scoring teams, operating out of a zone-read option spread. Cormier was occasionally used as a pass catcher from the backfield, averaging almost 13 yards per reception in 2012. As a junior in 2011, he caught for a pair of touchdowns.
