Arizona vs Belmont Player Grades

A quick recap and player grades for Arizona vs Belmont

USA TODAY Sports

I was so mad last night. I went through the trouble of putting two 42 inch HD TV's in my living room so I could watch as much of the tournament as possible. I was so excited this year, and then I looked at my schedule and I had to go coach a soccer practice at the exact same time as Arizona was playing. I ended up having a parent give me updates every five minutes during practice, so I was pleased to hear those updates, but missing the game was still horrible. Luckily I should have no issues for Saturdays game.

Now lets look at the tournament real quick. The Pac got absolutely no credit this year and after day 1 they have earned plenty of respect. I will say in my bracket I picked both Cal and Oregon to upset the 5 seeds, since I honestly felt they were better teams. Lets just hope that Colorado and UCLA can do their job as well. Now lets look at some of the stats and grade these players (doing the best I can with only highlights, stats, and recaps)

Solomon Hill: B Hill didn't put up a great game, but shooting 3-5 is a good percentage. It sounds like he and the rest of the team recognized our size was our advantage and we needed to exploit that. He finished with 9 points 4 rebounds and 1 assist.

Kaleb Tarczewski: A Kaleb used his size, and strength to gobble up 8 rebounds. Plus, he went 5-5 from the field for 12 points. Those are the type of games we have been hoping from him all year.

Kevin Parrom: A- Kevin had an all around strong game. Going 3-5 from the field and 5-7 from the line helped Kevin have 12 points, and he also added 8 rebounds and 3 assists.

Mark Lyons: A For some reason this doesn't surprise me. Mark seems like the type of player who excels when the pressure and lights are on. Mark finished with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist.

Nick Johnson: B+ I need to find a good defensive nickname for Nick. Seriously, the guy is one of the most impressive perimeter defenders I have watched in a long time. His shooting wasn't great last night going 4-9, but I tend to give him a break on that knowing how much energy he expends on the defensive side. He also added 3 rebounds and 5 assists.

Jordin Mayes: B Recently I have been much happier with Mayes. He just really needs to come in the game and run the offense, play good defense, and make open 3's.

Brandon Ashley: B Brandon came in and did what we needed. He shot 3-7 for 6 points and added 7 rebounds.

Grant Jarrett: B+ Grant came in and shot well going 2-4 from the field for 4 points, and added 6 rebounds to help us dominate the boards.
