Out of the six Arizona players that were drafted in the 2013 MLB Draft, only James Farris will return to Tucson as the rest have already made their minor league debuts.
Here's a look at how they're doing and where they're playing:
Brandon Dixon (Great Lakes Loons - LA Dodgers Low-A)
Dixon has started 11 games for the Great Lakes Loons at third base, and is doing pretty much exactly what he did at U of A this year.
In 45 ABs, he's hitting .279 with a home run and 8 RBI, including a 5 RBI day on June 30th against the Lansing Lugnuts, a game in which he also struck out three times.
I'm surprised they're playing him at third base. He's already made six errors in his 11 professional games at the hot corner.
Johnny Field (Hudson Valley Renegades - Tampa Bay Rays Short Season)
Field has also played in 11 professional games so far in the New York Penn League. While the Rays announced him as a second baseman during the draft, he has started every game in the outfield (10 in right, 1 in center).
He's hitting just .214 in 42 ABs, but also has six walks, one home run and eight RBI.
Konner Wade (Tri-City Dust Devils - Colorado Rockies Short Season)
Wade has made two starts for the Tri-City Dust Devils. In his first start, he went four innings, gave up one run on two hits and also struck out three. He was credited with the loss as they fell to Eugene.
In his second start, he threw five innings, also giving up one run but on four hits. He has not walked or hit any batters and technically has an ERA of 2.00. Not too shabby.
Nick Cunningham (Aberdeen Ironbirds - Baltimore Orioles Short Season)
Cunningham and Field are playing in the same league, and Cunningham actually pitched at Hudson Valley in the 12th and 13th innings on July 1st to earn a win, but Field was not in the lineup.
He has appeared in three games, twice in extra innings. In total, Cunningham has worked four innings, allowing four hits and one earned run. Just like Wade, he has not walked anyone for Aberdeen, but has hit a batter.
Augey Bill (GCL Orioles - Baltimore Orioles Rookie League)
Augey Bill was assigned to the rookie league club, separating him from Cunningham. Rookie League is pretty much the bottom of the barrel as far as Minor League ball is concerned. The GCL Orioles play in Sarasota, FL.
Bill has appeared in two games for the club, and has a record of 1-0. He has pitched three innings, and has given up four hits and one earned run. And once again, in typical U of A style, no walks allowed.
