On Saturday, Wildcats QB Jesse Scroggins was held out of both team practices due to concussion-like symptoms. Well, he was back out on the field on Monday, and RichRod had one word to describe his performance: "Rusty".
The PAC-12 Network's Rick Neuheisel also talked about the Arizona QB battle, hinting that he thinks B.J. Denker is the front-runner for the starting job. Based on what we've seen at practice over the last week or so, Denker is the front runner, Scroggins and Nick Isham will be the main contenders, and Anu Solomon will probably redshirt this year.
Nick Isham has been somewhat of a surprise. Coach Rodriguez talked about him briefly after practice Monday.
"It's probably more important to him than the rest of the guys. He's got some skills. I wish he was taller, so does he, but we can't control that. He's gotta be a guy that does exactly what we want and be able to execute."
Anu Solomon is still learning the offense, and redshirting this year may help him a lot with regards to the 2014 season.
"He's doing ok, he's just spinning just like any freshman" said Rodriguez. "We've gotta simplify things a little bit when he gets his reps. But we can't rep six guys, five guys, so by the end of this week we'll get down to three or four."
Here's some video of Jesse Scroggins and Khari McGee from the beginning of practice today, in that order.
