The Arizona Wildcats' 17-7 loss to the UCLA Bruins ended any shot at Rich Rodriguez's team making the college football playoff and dropped them to No. 21 in both college ranking systems.
The UA loss also means rival ASU in control of the Pac-12 South. The Sun Devils ended a late night with an overtime victory against the Utah Utes, and suddenly the Wildcats are backed up with USC and Utah in the standings. ASU finds itself 11th and 12th in the AP and Coaches polls, respectively, while UCLA moved into the No. 18 spot in both rankings. The Utes leapt over the Wildcats in the AP Poll, coming in at 20th.
Colorado is up next week, and it's easy to see this being another trap game if the Wildcats play like they did against the Bruins. The Buffs may be 0-6 in Pac-12 play, but their offense is plenty capable of putting up points. It's the last week for Arizona to get its offense in gear before facing three very good defenses -- Washington, Utah and Arizona State -- to finish off the season.
