Richard Jefferson re-signs with the Dallas Mavericks

The former Wildcat will be returning to Dallas in his 15th NBA season

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks have signed some of the top players in this year's free agent class. I'm referring to DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews, but they did decide to re-sign Richard Jefferson too!

Jefferson will get a one-year deal worth the veteran's minimum, according to Yahoo! Sports:

The veteran's minimum will net Jefferson just under $1.5 million for the season.

At this point in his career, Jefferson is essentially just a shooter off the bench. But an effective one at that. This past season he averaged 5.8 PPG and shot 42.6% from behind the arc. He appeared in 74 games, and even had 18 starts, though that was due to Chandler Parsons being in and out of the lineup with injuries.

For a Mavericks team that has undergone a lot of changes this summer, Jefferson will be a veteran presence and will provide some continuity.

Jordan Hill, Derrick Williams, and Jason Terry are still free agents.
