Sonoran Hot Reads: Arizona baseball gets to work on 2019 class

Getting those youngsters committed early

If you can schedule football games for the year 2031, I suppose there's no reason you can't start putting together your 2019 recruiting class. That's exactly what Jay Johnson has done for Arizona baseball, as they landed their first commitment of 2019 on Sunday:

Baseball seems almost impossible to project, but now we're looking at middle schoolers throwing 84 MPH. And according to Arizona baseball super fan and guy who keeps me on my toes Charles Archuleta, there's one for 2020 locked up too:

- There are eight teams within one game of first place in the Pac-12

- Ryan gave you three things that we learned from Saturday night's last-second loss to Cal

- The football staff landed the first commitment under the new defensive leadership in safety Tristan Cooper. We will have more on his decision later on Monday

- One Arizona target who will not be committing anytime soon is Emmanuel Beal, who decided on Oklahoma

- Chacho Ulloa seems to be down to Arizona and Oregon, and after visiting Tucson this weekend, told Scout's Greg Biggins "Overall, it was a good visit and I can definitely see myself there, UA is on top for me right now."

- Ulloa may become one of a huge number of guys to commit or sign with Arizona in the next week and a half

Other sports

- Women's basketball lost to ASU for the second time this week, and only managed to score 14 points in the first half

- An 89-year old person hit and killed a 69-year old person riding a bike at Campbell and Sunrise

Tombstone gunfight reenactments are back
