The Arizona Wildcats are always recruiting some of the best basketball prospects in the country. That’s nothing new. But SI’s way of gauging who the best prospects are in the 2017 class is pretty interesting. When it came to best scorer, Collin Sexton, who we recently talked to about his Arizona recruitment, ran away with the voting. Another notable, DeAndre Ayton, was just barely second in top overall player voting. I really like this idea by Evan Daniels
- What do we make of this copper UA hat?
Football
- Texas A&M came off pretty sexist with whatever this "women’s clinic" was on Wednesday, and two assistants have been suspended because of it. The Arizona connection? Aggie grad assistant B.J. Denker was not one of the coaches involved
- Speaking of Denker, he has been one of the few junior college success stories at U of A under Rich Rodriguez
- USC’s Adoree’ Jackson is pretty athletic, doing triple back flips and stuff
- You’d think Jackson would be playing in the best Week Three game since the Trojans go to Palo Alto, but ESPN chose Oregon/Nebraska over it
- Gabe ranked USC as Arizona’s 4th-toughest game this year. Stanford took the top spot. He also provided some updates on a few 2017 commits from this week
Baseball
- Zach Gibbons went 4-for-5 on Friday and is hitting .441 in his pro career so far
- Bobby Dalbec hit his first home run with the Lowell Spinners, and is now sitting at a .400 batting average
Tucson news
- The women’s soccer team is hosting a Team USA watch party at Trident II on August 6th
- A pair of twins that go to U of A will be heading to Rio as volunteers to deliver medical supplies to people that live in the slums
- Here’s a look at the athletes with Tucson connections that will be competing in Rio
- Some javelinas attacked a dog in an eastside apartment complex
