After playing for the Dallas Mavericks in NBA Summer League, Brandon Ashley has inked a deal with the team, it was announced Thursday by the Mavericks.

Ashley appeared in eight Summer League games with the Mavericks this July, averaging 10.8 points and 4.1 rebounds on 47.4 percent shooting, playing mostly center.

Ashley’s deal with Dallas isn’t a huge surprise, as team owner Mark Cuban said during one of the team’s Summer League games that Ashley had a “real shot” at making the roster.

This will be Ashley’s second stint with Dallas.

After going undrafted after his junior season with the Arizona Wildcats in 2015, Ashley signed with the Mavericks for training camp and preseason.

He was waived shortly before the start of the regular season, and joined the Texas Legends, Dallas’ G League affiliate, before signing in Germany with Alba Berlin.

Ashley re-upped with Alba Berlin, but ended up sitting out the 2016-17 season.

The terms of Ashley’s deal with the Mavericks have not been reported, but he will likely be competing for one of the final roster spots on the team.
