The Arizona Wildcats, in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017, have earned the No. 5 overall seed and will host Grand Canyon, Oklahoma State and UC Santa Barbara in a regional this weekend at Hi Corbett Field.

Arizona (40-15) will open play Friday at 7 p.m. PT against GCU (39-19-1) with OK State (35-17-1) and UCSB (39-18) facing off first at 1 p.m. PT. Friday’s winners and losers will meet Saturday, with the regional final set for Sunday or Monday.

The UA split a pair of games with Grand Canyon this season, beating the Antelopes 13-2 in Tucson on May 4 and losing 5-4 in 10 innings at GCU on April 13.

Should the Wildcats advance out of the Tucson Regional they would host the winner of the Oxford Regional, where Ole Miss is the No. 12 overall seed. This is the first time Arizona has been a top-8 seed since national seeding was introduced in 1999.

Arizona, which won the Pac-12 title for its first outright conference championship since 1989, is hosting a regional for the 15th time in school history but just second time since moving to Hi Corbett in 2012. The 2012 team hosted regionals and Super Regionals there en route to winning the program’s fourth College World Series title.
