2022 NFL draft: Michigan State’s Connor Heyward selected by Steelers in sixth round

A position switch late in his college career has Connor Heyward following impressive family footsteps. The Michigan State fifth-year senior tight end who spent his first four seasons in college at running back, was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 30th pick in the sixth round (No. 208 overall) in the 2022 NFL draft on Saturday. Heyward is the son of the late Craig "Ironhead" Heyward, a bruising rusher who spent 11 seasons in the NFL, and will team up with his brother, Cameron Heyward, an All-Pro defensive lineman heading into his 12th season with the Steelers.
