A clear sign that big things are expected of Arizona this season: the Pac-12 coaches are high on the Wildcats.

Arizona is ranked second in the Pac-12 Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll, behind only UCLA (which received all 10 first-place votes) and just ahead of ASU.

The poll is the latest that has Arizona up high, as the Wildcats are ranked in every major preseason poll including USA Today, which has them 19th.

The UA is set to open the 2021 season on Friday against Ball State at Hi Corbett Field in the first of a four-game series. Arizona opens Pac-12 play on March 19 at UCLA, which is ranked second in the USA Today poll.

Arizona is looking to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017. It looked to be headed that way a year ago, starting 10-5 before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the season in mid-March.
