After building big leads in the previous two games, only to see them nearly evaporate, the Arizona Wildcats decided to go a different route on Saturday against Southeastern Louisiana and be the ones making the comeback.

But unlike the Lions, the UA was able to complete their rally and come out on top.

Arizona (5-2) scored four times in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat SE Louisiana 4-3 at Hi Corbett, setting itself up for a 4-game sweep on Sunday.

Fresman Jacob Berry’s double to left center scored sophomore Branden Boissiere for the winning run, with Boissiere tying the game with an RBI single. Junior Blake Paugh started the scoring with a 2-run double as the first six Wildcats reached in the seventh.

All that happened against the Lions bullpen, which couldn’t replicate what starter Will Warren did. Warren held Arizona in check over six innings, scattering six hits and four walks.

SE Louisiana (3-3) took a 1-0 lead in the first and added two more in the fourth, but after loading the bases with no out in the fifth only had four more baserunners, two of which reached on errors. Arizona committed three errors for the second straight game.

Freshman right-hander Trevor Long picked up the win in his collegiate debut, allowing a hit with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings of relief, then sophomore righty Quinn Flanagan struck out four over the final two frames to get the save.

Arizona and SE Louisiana wrap up their 4-game set at 10 a.m. MST Sunday. After that the Wildcats head to Texas for the Frisco College Baseball Classic. They’ll face Oklahoma on Thursday and Friday, Dallas Baptist on Saturday and Missouri on Sunday.
