Chase Silseth threw a gem on Friday night, and now he’s got the hardware to show for it.
The Arizona Wildcats sophomore right-hander has earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors for his last outing, a 7-inning, 2-hit performance in an 11-1 win over Utah.
It was the sixth time in 11 starts that Silseth (7-1) has allowed two or fewer earned runs. Arizona is 9-2 in his starts.
Silseth is the second Arizona pitcher to win the Pac-12 weekly award, joining righty Chandler Murphy. The last time the Wildcats had two pitchers get honored on the same season was 2016.
Arizona (30-11) takes a 9-game win streak into Tuesday’s game against Grand Canyon, the finale of an 8-game homestand. The Wildcats lost 5-4 in 10 innings at GCU on April 13.
