NBA Draft scouting report: Arizona's Solomon Hill

A scouting report by Draft Express' Mike Schmitz on Arizona Wildcats forward Solomon Hill.

Draft Express video analyst Mike Schmitz broke down Solomon Hill's game film to take a look at the NBA potential of the Arizona Wildcats forward.

Of course, Hill will have another say before he hits the draft. He's slimmed down this season and we've yet to see how that -- and any skill development -- will improve his game in 2012-13. Currently unlisted in Draft Express' first or second round mock for 2013, Hill does come in as the 11th-best NBA prospect in the Pac-12.

Here's a quick summary of Schmitz's breakdown.

  • A vastly-improved jumper. Hill has improved his jump shot since his freshman season. While Hill doesn't have a mid-range game nor the most pristine mechanics, he's become quite effective as a set three-point shooter.
  • Rebounding. The forward is one of the best rebounders for a small forward, according to Draft Express' statistics.
  • Aggressiveness. Hill has the strength and the will to attack the paint and finish with contact. Next, he can prove that he has the athleticism and the change of direction to blow past NBA-level small forwards.
  • Smarts. Hill has always been a favorite of Sean Miller because of his basketball IQ. While it sometimes gets Hill in trouble with forced passes and turnovers, Hill's vision will serve him well in trying to make himself an NBA career.
