2014 College basketball AP All-Americans: Arizona's Nick Johnson makes 2nd team

Arizona Wildcats junior guard Nick Johnson is a second team All-American.

Guard Nick Johnson earned second-team All-American honors as voted by the Associated Press.

Johnson fell to the second team behind fellow guards Shabazz Napier of UConn, Sean Kilpatrick of Cincinnati and Russ Smith of Louisville. Creighton forward Doug McDermott and Duke forward Jabari Parker rounded out the first team.

Johnson finished Arizona's Elite Eight run with averages of 16.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game on the year, and he was joined on the second team with Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins, Michigan guard Nik Stauskas, Iowa State forward Melvin Ejim and North Carolina State swingman T.J. Warren.

The Associated Press voters filed their decisions on Selection Sunday, so NCAA Tournament performances weren't accounted for in the process.

Though the second team nod might be viewed as a slight, Johnson earned a little more respect in the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-American team selection. He was a first-team selection -- he and Stauskas made the first team in that poll, while Kilpatrick and Smith were given second-team honors.

Johnson, one of four Wooden Award Finalists, made the Wooden Award All-American team as well.
