Draft Express' Mike Schmitz broke down Aaron Gordon's high-profile matchup this season against Duke Blue Devils forward Jabari Parker, one of the best scorers in the 2014 NBA Draft and the NCAA this past season. While there were many glimpses of Gordon's potential that should make him a top-10 pick, it also alluded to weaknesses on Parker's end.
And for Arizona's purposes moving forward, the game was also a sign of how much the Wildcats missed Brandon Ashley. The 72-66 victory for UA in Madison Square Garden saw Gordon get a lot of help from his teammates -- no player scored more than Nick Johnson's 15 -- especially on the defensive end. Remember, it was Ashley who started out on Parker at the power forward spot, and though Ashley was limited by foul trouble, he finished with 13 points himself and had a major hand getting Parker out of rhythm.
That's something the Wildcats will be happy to have again next year.
