The Arizona Wildcats have their backcourt once the T.J. McConnell era is written. Though undersized 2014 recruit Parker Jackson-Cartright was already in the fold for 2014-15 and beyond, UA coach Sean Miller filled out the backcourt by earning a commitment from Temecula Valley High School point guard Justin Simon on Tuesday, according to Scout.
Must Reads
Simon joins 5-star shooting guard Tyler Dorsey in the 2015 class, giving Arizona a strong recruiting head start leading into the 2015-16 season. Dorsey, out of St. John Bosco High School in Los Angeles, is listed by ESPN as the 7th-best prospect in 2015.
Simon is a 4-star prospect himself, is ranked by Rivals as the 23rd best player in his class; ESPN lists Simon all the way down at 45th. At 6'5, Simon is lanky relative to prototypical point guard standards but has a solid handle and vision in the open court. Like many a Sean Miller recruit, Simon's jump shot could be the first issue to fix.
Miller will get an early look at Simon and have the ability to work with him on the U-18 team that also includes Dorsey and 2014 Arizona commit Stanley Johnson.
Here's a look at Simon against Johnson's Mater Dei team in December.
