Per Scout's Jason Scheer, Arizona Wildcats assistant coach Damon Stoudamire is leaving Tucson to rejoin the Memphis Tigers coaching staff.
Arizona assistant Damon Stoudamire has notified recruits families and coaches he's headed to Memphis to be an assistant
— Jason Scheer (@JasonScheer) May 18, 2015
Stoudamire had been on the Arizona coaching staff since 2013 after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant for the Tigers. He was also an assistant for the Memphis Grizzlies from 2009-11.
The former Wildcat great played for Lute Olson from 1991-95, putting together a 101-24 record as a player, including two Pac-12 Championships, and the 1994 FInal Four run. In that 1994 season, Stoudamire was a consensus first-team All-American, and then in 1995, won a share of the Pac-10 Player of the Year.
Josh Pastner currently has three full-time assistant coaches on staff, so there is an odd-man-out situation brewing there as well.
Damon Stoudamire will obviously replace a current Memphis assistant. Still working through specifics. But it’s fair to point out that …
