After not dressing for the first Arizona Wildcats exhibition game, it was announced before the game that center Chance Comanche has been suspended due to academics.

“Chance Comanche will not play in tonight’s game due to his own lack of academic responsibility,” head coach Sean Miller said in an emailed statement. “As a member of our basketball program, you are a student and an athlete, and you are expected to do the best of your ability in both areas. It is not an option to compete and be held accountable on the court but not in the classroom. This suspension is indefinite.”

Last season, Comanche averaged 1.9 points per game and six minutes in 23 appearances. His role grew as the season progressed, and seemed to have pulled even with Dusan Ristic in the final couple weeks of the year.

We will update this post as more information becomes available. That is a very strong statement from Miller though, and also peculiar that Comanche was sent out for the press conference on Monday.
