Bracketology: Selection Sunday is almost here

In a few hours, we'll find out where Arizona will begin their quest for a national championship

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

It's almost time. I've been walking around singing, "It's the most wonderful time of the year" all weekend. We are just hours away from us bracket fiends having something to obsess over for the next several weeks.

It's Sunday -- Selection Sunday. In a few hours, we'll have the field all set. But, until then, there's still plenty of time to speculate:

LAST FOUR BYES: Butler, Oregon State, South Carolina, Cincinnati

LAST FOUR IN: Michigan, Monmouth, Temple, St. Mary's

FIRST FOUR OUT: Vanderbilt, St. Bonaventure, San Diego State, Syracuse

NEXT FOUR OUT: Valparaiso, Florida, Davidson, Washington

Despite Seton Hall's victory over Villanova in the Big East Tournament Championship game, we've got the Arizona Wildcats holding steady as a 5-seed and Seton Hall as a 6. If one of those 5-seeds is to drop off in favor of Seton Hall when the brackets are announced, we do anticipate that it would be Arizona. So there is a slight possibility that Arizona could end up a 6.

Three of the four number-one seeds seem locked in. Kansas, North Carolina and Virginia all seem safe. All the Michigan State Spartans need to do is defeat the Purdue Boilermakers in today's Big Ten Tournament Championship game to lock up the fourth and final 1-seed. However, if they don't, that fourth 1-seed could end up given to the Oregon Ducks, fresh off the dismantling of the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 Tournament Championship game.
