Arizona Wildcats in Las Vegas Summer League: Gabe York fares well in Lakers debut

Meanwhile, Lauri Markkanen had a day to forget

NBA: Summer League-Los Angeles Lakers at Sacramento Kings Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

After sitting out his first two games with the Los Angeles Lakers in Las Vegas Summer League, Gabe York finally debuted for the team Monday.

The former Wildcat scored eight points in nine minutes, shooting 2-5 from the field, 2-3 from 3-point range and 2-2 from the free throw line.

York checked in midway through the first quarter and immediately sank two 3-pointers to give the Lakers a lead.

L.A. went on to beat the Sacramento Kings, 95-92.

Lauri Markkanen’s day did not go as well, as he was unable to build off a strong debut.

The Chicago Bulls’ forward had eight points and nine rebounds in 31 minutes, but shot 1-13 from the field and 0-10 from 3. He did sink all four of his free throw attempts and block four shots, however.

Markkanen had 14 points and eight rebounds in his first appearance with the Bulls on Saturday.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had 11 points, eight rebounds, a block, and a steal on 5-8 shooting for the Brooklyn Nets on Monday in their 95-66 blowout win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
