Jay Bilas doesn’t believe Sean Miller knew about Book Richardson’s illegal activity

“I know Sean Miller to be a man of great honesty and integrity,” he said

After Arizona Wildcats assistant Book Richardson was arrested for illegal activity on the recruiting trail Tuesday, one question that needed to be answered was, “what did Sean Miller know about it, and what was his role in all of it?”

Richardson has been on Miller’s staff for 11 years, starting back in 2007 when the two were at Xavier.

So, for one Twitter user, the notion that Miller was oblivious to Richardson’s wrongdoings is “laughable,”

College basketball analyst Jay Bilas couldn’t disagree more.

“No, it is not,” he tweeted in response. “I know Sean Miller to be a man of great honesty and integrity. I don't believe for a second he knew of any improper behavior.”

Miller has not released a statement on the matter, but he was not implicated in the compliant the Department of Justice released Tuesday.

Arizona has started its own investigation into the scandal, and while Miller’s future with the Wildcats could be in jeopardy, it’s anyone’s guess right now as to how Miller was involved — if he was at all.

And evidently Bilas — who is well-connected in college basketball — is under the impression that Miller knew nothing of Richardson’s behavior.

If he’s right, that could certainly be a crucial development for Miller’s future at the UA.
