Arizona Wildcats freshman Omar Thielemans will not be participating in Sunday’s Red-Blue Game for personal reasons, the UA announced before tip-off.

The 6-foot-7 Belgian was one of three members of UA’s 2018 recruiting class. 247Sports rated him as a low four-star prospect.

Thielemans is not expected to have a major role this season, and could be a transfer candidate seeing how the Wildcats’ 2019 recruiting class is shaping up.

Thielemans was not introduced with the team Sunday.

“Omar is a great kid and he’s really in a transition from FIBA basketball and playing in Europe to college basketball at a high level,” UA head coach Sean Miller said earlier this month.

“I think the best years are ahead of him and I think he’s more of a developmental player, you know, development being at the forefront of what we’re trying to to do with him and we’re excited to have him as part of our program.”

The Red-Blue Game is set to begin at 12 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
