Florida Gulf Coast grad transfer Zach Johnson has committed to the Miami Hurricanes, he announced Thursday on Twitter.
Eligible to play immediately, Johnson was one of the top scorers on the market, as he averaged 16.1 points per game, while shooting 46 percent from the field, 39 percent from 3, and 78 percent from the free-throw line this season.
Johnson could have provided Arizona some much-needed scoring and shooting on the wing, though he would not have cured UA’s point guard issues.
Johnson played 32.4 minutes per game and exclusively played the 2 this season, per KenPom. He had 104 assists to 79 turnovers.
After adding Pittsburgh graduate transfer Ryan Luther yesterday, Arizona has nine scholarship players set for the 2018-19 season.
That means it can still aad up to four more, and its biggest needs are a point guard, another big man, and some offensive firepower.
