Former Arizona Wildcat Nick Johnson scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Austin Spurs beat the South Bay Lakers 104-93 on Thursday to advance to the NBA G League Finals, which start Sunday.
The Spurs will play a three-game series against the winner of the Raptors 905 and the Erie Bayhawks.
Former Colorado Buffalo Derrick White led Austin with 35 points.
Johnson came off the bench, where he has been averaging 11.7 points, four rebounds and 3.7 assists this season.
The Nuggets released him and the Austin Spurs picked him up on December 28, 2015. He played 34 games and averaged 10 points per game before he was waived.
The Orlando Magic briefly signed him, but released him shortly after.
He then played one season with the German team, Bayern Munich, before the Spurs picked him up again.
