The 2018 NBA Draft order was set Tuesday, so now is as good of a time as any to see where the Arizona Wildcats’ prospects are slated to be picked.
As a reminder, the draft is set for June 21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Deandre Ayton
- CBS Sports — No. 1 overall (Phoenix Suns)
- SB Nation — No. 2 overall (Sacramento Kings)
- Sports Illustrated — No. 1 overall (Phoenix Suns)
- Sporting News — No. 1 overall (Phoenix Suns)
- USA Today — No. 1 overall (Phoenix Suns)
- Tankathon.com — No. 1 overall (Phoenix Suns)
- Washington Post — No. 2 overall (Sacramento Kings)
- Yahoo! Sports — No. 1 overall (Phoenix Suns)
- The Ringer — No. 2 overall (Sacramento Kings)
- The Athletic — No. 2 overall (Sacramento Kings)
- NBADraft.net — No. 1 overall (Phoenix Suns)
It’s virtually a lock that Ayton will be selected with one of the first two picks, but it will be interesting to see if a consensus develops over the next month or so.
Right now, experts are seemingly split between him and Luka Doncic for the No. 1 pick.
Rawle Alkins
- Sports Illustrated — No. 30 overall (Atlanta Hawks)
- Tankathon.com — No. 33 overall (Dallas Mavericks)
- The Ringer — No. 34 overall (Orlando Magic)
- NBADraft.net — No. 54 overall (Dallas Mavericks)
It’s not always easy to find mock drafts that include the second round, but all the ones I did find included Alkins. Sports Illustrated believes he might sneak into the first round, but it seems like his stock is currently early-to-late second round. A strong showing the NBA Combine could certainly do him some good.
Allonzo Trier
- Sports Illustrated — undrafted
- Tankathon.com — undrafted
- The Ringer — undrafted
- NBADraft.net — undrafted
Trier will have some work to do at the combine. Every major mock draft projects he will go undrafted, and Sports Illustrated published a rather unflattering critique of his game last month.
If Trier does go undrafted, he could take a similar route as Kobi Simmons, who went undrafted, inked a two-way contract, and split time between the NBA and G League.
